My doctor said I’m “fine,” so why do I feel like trash

I used to be the "perfect" patient on paper .  As a Physician Assistant with 20 years of experience, I knew exactly which boxes to check .  I ate the salads, I took the supplements, and I followed the medical guidelines I gave to my own patients .  

But behind the scenes?  I was struggling . 

Every day felt like a marathon I hadn't trained for .  I moved through my shifts at the clinic in a state of absolute exhaustion, but I didn't think I was "sick" .  I just thought I was a busy, working mom .  I told myself that the 3pm energy crash, the irritability that made me snap at my kids, and the evening bloat that made my pants feel three sizes too small by 4pm were just... normal . 

I assumed every busy mom was going through the same thing, right?   

 

The "Normal" Labs Trap

When I finally reached a breaking point and had my labs drawn, the results came back exactly as I expected: Normal .  

In the conventional medical world, "normal" ranges are designed to find disease .  If your markers aren't "low" enough for a diagnosis or "high" enough for a prescription, you’re sent home with a pat on the head and told you’re just getting older or need to "stress less" . 

But there is a massive gap between not having a disease and actually thriving . 

Conventional blood work often misses the functional markers that explain why you have brain fog, why you’re waking up wired at 3am, and why your body is resisting weight loss .  Your body isn’t broken; it’s communicating through "whispers" . 

My irritability, mood swings, and constant exhaustion weren't signs of a character flaw or a lack of sleep—they were signals that I was pushing my body into a chronic state of survival mode . 

 

Your Energy is Built, Not Forced

We’ve been taught that if we feel tired, we just need more caffeine .  If we feel bloated, we just need to cut out more food groups .  But you cannot "detox" a body that hasn't properly drained, and you cannot force energy into a system that is stuck in fight-or-flight . 

"Everyone posts about their wins... but no one is talking about how leaning on the basics is the first thing you need to master" . 

Real, sustainable vitality comes when you stop ignoring the whispers and start regulating your nervous system and fueling your biology correctly .  "Your daily energy is built, not forced" .
